Monstrosity - Live Apocalypse

MONSTROSITY
"Live Apocalypse" DVD
Conquest Music

I bought this DVD directly from the band and as always, they ship fast as fuck. This is Monstrosity's first official DVD. It comes in a four panel digipack with a simple layout having a crowd shot as the cover, band photos in the inner panels, and credits at the back cover.

The DVD is divided into three parts: "Live Apocalypse", "Studio Apocalypse", and "Interviews."

"Live Apocalypse" features footage from the "Brutal Assualt Festival 2010 (Czech Republic)." It is professionally recorded with killer audio and video quality. There are only five songs in this set, but it's killer to see Monstrosity slay live in the confines of my home. Lee Harrison is a fucking beast behind the kit!

"Studio Apocalypse" features the vocal, guitar, bass, and drum tracking of "Spiritual Apocalypse" at the legendary Morrisound Studios. It's about half an hour of studio footage. It also shows Kelly Shaefer from Atheist recording back up vocals for "Firestorm" which was fucking cool.

"Interviews" features the band talking about the recording of "Spiritual Apocalypse", life on the road, etc... and there are rehearsal and live footage taken from their South American tour.

It's killer that Monstrosity released "Live Apocalypse" as it's the only way for me to experience a Monstrosity pit. It also completed my "Spiritual Apocalypse" listening experience even though I only have a promo CD that the band gave me as a birthday present, but I will definitely buy an official copy once I have extra money for Metal. Hail Monstrosity!

Wave Of Darkness/Scrawlshop/Tripalium/In Dark Purity 'Zines

 L-R: Roel/Tripalium, Alex/IDP, Georgekills/Impetus, Emil/WOD, and Rallye/Scrawlshop

This photo was taken after the "Bahid Ng Dugo" gig at Mayrics, EspaƱa, Manila on June 1, 2007.  Who would have thought that we would all be working together?

WAVE OF DARKNESS, SCRAWLSHOP, TRIPALIUM, and IN DARK PURITY 'zines will be working on a four-way split issue!  Well, Rallye is not aware of it yet, but I'm sure there is nothing he can do about it now!  This is going to be IN DARK PURITY 'zine's first time to work with other 'zines as I have always wanted to do things on my own, but I don't know how much longer I can do 'zines with all my real life responsibilities, so I thought it would be a killer idea to work on a four-way split issue with these sick fucks! We all have different ideologies in our 'zines, but we all know how to have a fucking killer time when we all get together, and we all love and respect Metal for what it is and what it's about and we will never sell our souls to the mainstream like what other so called Metalheads are doing in the local scene these days! The working title for my side of the split will be called "Orgy In Excrements." It's the only way I can describe this vile alliance. It's a song title from AUTOPSY's "Acts Of The Unspeakable" in case you didn't know. I'm looking forward to this project and it's an honor and pleasure to be working with the Philippines' sickest fanzine editors!

Autopsy - Born Undead

AUTOPSY
"Born Undead"
Peaceville Records

I pre-ordered this from Peaceville Records and I received it on August 27th, 2012. The day of the official release.

"Born Undead" is Autopsy's second official DVD.  It comes in a 24 page digibook with killer artwork by Kent Mathieu. The same artist that worked on "Severed Survival", "Acts Of The Unspeakable", and "Torn From The Grave." The booklet is filled with band photos taken from the reunion gigs, two promo shots, track list, and credits.

The DVD is divided into three parts: "A History Of Horror", "Concerts", and "Extras."

"A History Of Horror" is a comprehensive documentary of Autopsy's birth, death, and resurrection in their own words.

"Concerts" features Autopsy's reunion gigs at "Maryland Death Fest 2010 (USA)", "Party San 2010 (Germany)", "Hole In The Sky 2010 (Norway)", and "Slaughter By The Water 2011 (USA)."

"Extras" features "The Tomb Within - Promo Trailer 2010",
"My Corpse Shall Rise - Official Video 2010", "Voices - Creepy Kofy Movie Time 2011", and "All Tomorrows Funerals - Official Video 2012."

I love band history and "A History Of Horror" documentary is well done and very informative. There are commentaries made by past members, Cannibal Corpse, Exhumed, Impaled, and Obliteration. There are also a lot of rare photos, rehearsal, live, and studio footage interweaved throughout the documentary.

I wanted to attend "Maryland Death Fest 2010" to witness history as Autopsy reunites, but my wife and I went to Phuket, Thailand to celebrate our second wedding anniversary. Needless to say, I don't have the money to make the trip. Now that I'm married, my wife is my priority and Metal has become my mistress, ha! Fortunately, the "Maryland Death Fest 2010" set is featured in this DVD in its entirety! It's the first professional live footage that I have ever seen from Autopsy and the audio and video quality is fucking killer!  For a third world metalhead from the Philippines like me.  "Born Undead" is the closest I can get to be in an Autopsy pit!

"Born Undead" left me "Gasping For Air"! It's the sickest Death Metal DVD that I own next to Cannibal Corpse's "Centuries Of Torment: The First 20 Years." I watched it in one sitting and I didn't even notice that it was five hours long! The artwork, packaging, and the featured contents will make even a die hard Autopsy fan "Vomit On The Nearest Asshole." I did. Mandatory!

I discovered Nekromantik through Death Metal. I thought Nekromantik was a band. I always see Death Metal bands wear Nekromantik t-shirts! I was in high school and there was no Internet at that time and I honestly have no idea. I only learned that Nekromantik was a film after reading an Autopsy interview. Since then I have been looking for a copy. I managed to get a sub-standard VHS copy from a trader and years later, I got a bootleg DVD from RFC (OG local mall in Las Pinas City). It's extremely difficult to get an official copy, and when I come across one, I couldn't afford it. It's fucking killer that they released these obra maestra on limited edition hardbox sets and I was fortunate enough to get a copy of each. Nekromantik is the sickest underground film that I have ever seen and to finally have an official copy in my hands means a lot to me. Horns up to Buttgereit and Jelinski!
